Hello, this is GIRE. Today, we would like to share helpful information with students or parents who wish to apply to America's top-tier Summer Research Program.
Many students and parents are often interested in and preparing for Summer Camp to have a more meaningful summer vacation. In the case of Top-tier Summer Camp, it is essential to prepare in advance because it is a competitive summer camp supported all over the world. Today, we will introduce in detail the Simons Summer Research Program summer camp, one of the top-tier summer camps. The Simmons summer research program, held every summer, is one of the most prestigious STEM research programs for high school students in the United States.
[Program Information]
For the Simmons summer research program, applicants who show strong passion and participation in the STEM field are likely to be selected for the program, and the acceptance rate is approximately 5%. Therefore, if you participate in the program, you will have a high reputation. During the program, students will learn how to conduct scientific research and effectively communicate mathematical, scientific, and computational principles to advance their careers in applied mathematics and computational science. As well as overall participation in the research process, you will have the opportunity to present your work through written research abstracts and research projects.
This program matches you with a faculty mentor from Stony Brook University to conduct a research project. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with excellent faculty, providing great networking opportunities.
Participants will participate in research-focused, as well as community- and career-focused events throughout the summer. Weekly faculty research talks and participation in special workshops, tours and events will provide great insights from across the industry and provide participants with opportunities to network and create connections.
The research project participants do with their mentors can be a good submission to other science-related competitions. This will benefit several high-profile research competitions such as the Regeneron Science Talent Search and the Siemens Science Competition.
[Application information]
The Simmons Research Program, which runs from June 27 to July 29, 2023, provides high school students with the opportunity to conduct research in a variety of fields, from science and mathematics to engineering. Working hours may vary and must be agreed upon in consultation with the assigned undergraduate mentor. Students admitted to the program must submit documentation of vaccination status (COVID-19 vaccine required) before engaging in work on campus and must comply with all University COVID policies. Additional details will be provided to accepted students at a later date, and vaccination documentation is not required at the time of application submission. After a successful applicant has accepted an offer of admission, the program may require additional documentation from the applicant and/or their parents/guardians, including proof of insurance, liability waiver, and permission to use photographs. The Simmons Summer Research Program began in 1984 as an outreach program to local high school students and now attracts applicants from all over the country and brings them to the Stony Brook campus. Simmons Fellows are matched with a Stony Brook University faculty mentor, participate in a research group or team, and are responsible for a project. After completing their challenges, Simmons Fellows conclude their research program by writing a research summary and research poster. While learning and experiencing valuable skills at a leading research university, Simmons Fellows attend weekly faculty research lectures and participate in special workshops, tours, and events. At the poster symposium, students are awarded the Stiffend Award. As it is a prestigious program, you must prepare a lot to pass the program.
With GIRE, high school students receive direct support from consultants and conduct unprecedented research in research areas they are curious about, acquiring specialized knowledge, discovering new facts, and considering ways to utilize the research results. |
