For admission to U.S. universities, high-level extracurricular activities are essential. Among various extracurricular activities, experience in high school research stands out as crucial for gaining admission to top-tier universities in the United States. Engaging in meaningful research projects not only demonstrates academic curiosity but also showcases a student's dedication to advancing knowledge in their chosen field.

Research and Internship Programs for High School Students

Background

In the United States, there are various programs designed to provide high school students with research opportunities. Through these programs, students can engage in real-world research in fields such as biomedical sciences, enhancing their academic and professional development significantly. By participating in hands-on projects alongside experienced researchers, students not only gain practical skills but also cultivate a deeper understanding of scientific inquiry and innovation. These experiences often prove invaluable when preparing for future academic pursuits and career aspirations in STEM fields.

Program 1: Memorial Sloan Kettering Summer Student Program
The Human Oncology and Pathogenesis Program (HOPP) at Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) offers a summer student program where students receive systematic education in the medical and life sciences fields and conduct independent research projects. During the 8-week program, students are mentored by postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, or research technicians. At the end of the research period, students present their projects.
